Underground Storage Tank Sweeps

CES performs property inspection and the detection for buried underground heating oil tanks, or other suspected petroleum underground storage tank buried on residential and commercial properties. With over 30-years field experience conducting geophysical surveys and subsurface investigations CES has found many buried oil tanks that are often “abandoned in-place”, or simply forgotten about.

Even with proper tank abandonment documentation, the potential for “has the tank ever leaked” may still be a concern, especially to a prospective purchaser in a real estate transaction.

If you are considering the purchase of a residential or commercial property, CES can help you with your buried underground storage tank concerns.

Asbestos Inspections & Sampling

CES performs simple inspections for the presence and/or absence of suspected asbestos-containing building materials often identified during real estate home inspections of older properties (pre-1978). CES can help you determine if asbestos is present in your home or building. In addition, CES conducts pre-demolition and/or pre-renovation asbestos inspections often required to satisfy local building demolition, or renovation requirements.

CES has also performed numerous asbestos inspections to include, but were not limited to: public/private school buildings, daycare facilities, farm buildings, residential dwellings, commercial buildings, municipal buildings and older industrial buildings. All asbestos inspections and sampling are conducted by an EPA/AHERA-certified Asbestos Building Inspector with over 30-years of field experience.

Mold Assessments & Sampling

CES performs mold assessments and sampling to determine the cause of any suspected mold conditions and to develop a Scope of Work for mold remediation by a qualified mold remediation contractor, if warranted. CES conducts a thorough visual assessment using moisture meters and other diagnostic equipment to determine the approximate extent of water/moisture damage and any resulting mold conditions. Sampling is conducted to determine actual mold species present (i.e., Stachybotrys, Aspergillus, etc.) and to develop a Scope of Work for any mold remediation to include proper engineering controls (i.e., critical barriers and containment, etc.), equipment, materials and to identify “work areas” and “non-work areas”.

CES’s mold assessment reports are often utilized by insurance companies to substantiate a loss, or claim and to provide guidance to a third-party mold remediation for any required mold remediation. All mold assessments and sampling are conducted by a Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) through the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC).

Indoor Air Quality Investigations & Sampling

CES can address “odor” complaints, and other suspected indoor air quality (IAQ) concerns for indoor contaminants in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Suspected “odor” complaints to CES have often included but were not limited to: musty odors, chemical odors, rotten egg odors, and many others.

CES can perform air quality testing to determine if elevated mold spores, volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), pesticides, asbestos fibers, etc. are present in the indoor building environment.

All indoor air quality investigations and sampling are conducted by a Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) through the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC).
